The Office Contents policy explained...
What's special about this policy?
Our Office Contents insurance uses a very broad definition of 'contents' including:
- furniture
- documents, briefs, manuscripts, plans, business books
- works of art
- loss of personal effects (the personal belongings of employees and visitors to your office)
- damage to your clients' property for which you are responsible
- glass and money
- loss of data
This office cover is 'all risks' which means that you are protected against damage to, or loss of, your business property whilst it's away from your business premises as well as when you're using it at your office.
If you have a self-contained office, most office policies insist you prove there's been a physical break-in before you can make a claim for theft.
This office policy doesn't, so you're protected against light-fingered visitors to your premises too.
The policy is designed to be as simple as possible and, as long as you conform to minimum security requirements, you'll be covered.
Minimum security requirements for this office insurance policy
All external accessible windows and skylights are:
- fitted with window-locks, or permanently screwed shut, or protected by:
- fixed solid steel bars not more than 10 cm apart
- fixed expanded metal, weld mesh or wrought ironwork grilles
- proprietary collapsible locking gate grilles
- the final exit door of your premises is secured by means of either a mortice deadlock or a BS3621 standard (or better) rimlock or a key operated multi-point locking system having at least three locking bolts
In addition this office insurance policy requires that you ensure that:
- if installed, all fire alarms and intruder alarms are in full operation whenever your business location is left unattended;
- any fire alarms and intruder alarms are serviced annually;
- your premises are locked and secured if left unattended.
- you inform us if you are going to leave your premises unoccupied for more than 30 days.
