The Buildings policy explained...
What's special about this policy?
Office buildings insurance covers the buildings, including outbuildings, annexes, and tenants improvements, of your office premises.
The policy will protect your buildings against damage from things such as fire, flood and accidents and will also cover you for reasonable costs incurred in locating the damage (finding a burst pipe, for example).
The insurance covers office buildings owned or leased by you, and includes protection for:
- buildings, outbuildings and annexes
- landlord's fixtures and fittings, fixed fuel tanks
- walls, gates and fences, car parks, yards, private roads
- pavements and paths, at the premises
- pipes, ducting, cables, wires and associated control equipment at the premises and up to the public mains
Tenants' improvements
If you rent premises, the tenants' improvements part of the policy covers alterations and improvements you have carried out as a tenant such as decorations, partitions, fixtures and fittings including, (if attached to the building), external signs, aerials and satellite dishes. It will also cover pipes, ducting, cables and wires and associated control equipment at the premises, extending to the public mains supply.
Working from home
This insurance is not relevant if your office is a room within your home as this would already be covered by your home insurance policy.
